So my husband casually mentioned to me that he had arranged for babysitting for us to go out last night. He said he thought it would be nice since I’d been gone all week. He said he’d made reservations at The Melting Pot. Never one to pass up fondue, I was looking forward to an evening out.
On our way to dinner, my husband commented that he wanted this to be a little birthday celebration just the two of us (we celebrated August birthdays with my family last weekend). When we arrived, there were lots of people waiting to be seated. My husband suggested that we walk around to the bar, so we did; and there sat my nephew and his wife. It is always so good to see them and I was surprised.
We had a great meal and great conversation.
It was then suggested that we go upstairs, and to be honest, I truly did not think much of it. We walked upstairs and were greeted by a room full of friends! It was so good to see everyone! The drinks flowed, the chocolate was devoured, and the laughter (my favorite part!) filled the room.

A special thanks to my husband for planning such a fun evening and to my friends who helped me celebrate!

So while visiting the island cabin, my boys love to go to the local pharmacy.
This is no ordinary pharmacy! There is a soda fountain and a toy section – what more could boys want?!
After enjoying an ice cream cone with his grandpa, my youngest promptly found this small foam airplane in the toy section.

These guests are common and in even greater numbers when we haven’t inhabited the cabin for a few weeks.
Viewer discretion is advised…especially for Bethany.

I love the variety of beach habitats in our area! We can visit sandy beaches, rocky beaches, mud flats, etc.
Last weekend, we were invited to a “new” beach. The boys were quite excited, and they were not disappointed.

We had a bit of “summer” weather near the end of last week.
You know where we went!

While my eldest was swimming all summer, my youngest was in a summer school program offered through a nearby community college.
This was his second summer participating in this program and he loved it!
Almost every day when I picked him up, this is where I found him.

Every day at swimming lessons this summer, I had the pleasure of Cooper’s company.

Is he fun or what?!

It always makes me sad. I enjoy fall, but I love the warmer weather of summer and the “free” time with fewer (or at least different) activities.
This past week, swimming lessons ended. My eldest turned a corner this year and now loves everything about swimming. It’s great! I had lots of fun this summer watching him in the pool.
