Weeds

I have often been frustrated with the amount of weeds in our yard (if I kept up with the weed-pulling daily or even weekly, all would be good, but I don’t…instead I wait until our lawn and our flower beds are over-run, making the chore seem insurmountable!).

However, since I’ve had boys, weeds look a little different to me.

I’ve been given all manner of gifts…some with just a single dandelion,

others with a handful of dandlelions, clover, etc. (sorry, I’m not fluent in weed names).

A few times during the summers, I will get the tall weeds (maybe even some scotch broom starts), roots and all, brought to me.  No fancy delivery speeches, just a “mom, I picked these for you.”

In my possession I have two small vases.

These were given to me at my baby showers with a note about being ready for such “bouquets.”

In the spring and summertime, you can see these vases on my kitchen windowsill regularly (although I do need to switch to a taller vase when the two-footers with roots are given to me!).

All this being said, I’m content for the time being to leave the weeds where they grow and receive these gifts from the hands of my two boys.
