Wanted…a frog

well, actually a tadpole.

We received the frog habitat for Christmas

and we mailed our tadpole certificate the first week in January.

As you can imagine, we are eagerly checking the mail each day (the obsessive mail-checking actually began the very next day after we mailed the certificate).

Hopefully the tadpole will arrive soon.  I bet you can imagine the daily questions and thought-provoking ramblings of my 2 eager, soon-to-be tadpole owners.  A week or so ago, my youngest volunteered his thoughts on why it was taking so long for the frog to arrive – “they just haven’t caught him yet.”

Happy Friday!

A cold, a discovery, and a new friend

January 23rd, 2009  |  Published in Everyday Life, Portraits  |  2 Comments

My youngest son has been sick this week with a fairly nasty cold, so we’ve spent a lot of time at home.

Our household has been in the midst of a few smaller projects (thank you, Aaron!), and while I was moving and sorting, I found some favorite childhood items.  One item in particular has become a huge favorite with my sick, stay-at-home son.

I am the youngest of 4.  It has been said that my mother asked me if I wanted a younger brother or sister;  I reportedly said “no.”  So instead of a younger sibling, I got a Snoopy.

A boy on the way

Carrie is always beautiful.

And now that she has that cute pregnant belly…I’ll just say that she sweetly put up with my paparazzi tendencies while on vacation.

Catch-up

January 20th, 2009  |  Published in Everyday Life  |  Leave a Response

I feel like I’m still playing a bit of catch-up after the holidays, vacation, and illness.  To stick with my goals this week, I thought I’d share two previews of coming posts (so if you don’t see them by Friday, you can call me out!).

A morning walk

January 19th, 2009  |  Published in Travel  |  1 Comment

My boys have lots of energy…even in the early am hours.

One morning I thought a walk on the beach might be a good way to burn off a little energy before waking up the whole clan.

Here are a few snapshots (luckily I only took my point’ n’ shoot as we got drenched by a few good waves!).

Fishing trip

January 16th, 2009  |  Published in Travel  |  2 Comments

So my husband likes to fish.

He really has not fished locally for quite a while.  We take our 2 boys out in the summer and they love it; but that is not the fishing he really enjoys.

When he found out we were going to Hawaii again, he booked a fishing trip with the same outfit he has used before and then talked my brother-in-law and my two nephews into going with him.

I would have LOVED to go out with them to document the trip and capture some shots of the wildlife (the birds, the sharks, the whales!), but I have no desire to be in 8-10 -? foot swells for an extended period of time!  So I do the next best thing – meet the fishermen at the harbor upon their return.
