Merry Christmas!

December 25th, 2009  |  Published in Everyday Life  |  1 Comment

I wanted to say a quick Christmas greeting.  I had a nice photo in mind to post as well – a beautiful, serene scene – but I laughed to myself thinking that it is not a true snapshot of Christmas in our house.  Christmas in our house is loud, boisterous, full of energy, and so much fun!

This year, the fun includes these

One “very average” family

at least that’s what they wrote on their questionnaire.  So untrue.

What a fun time I had with them!

Meet Lily.

A needed reminder

December 22nd, 2009  |  Published in Everyday Life  |  1 Comment

I love this month, but so often I allow it to become a blur instead of a blessing.

My eldest drew this for me last week.

It sits near my desk as a much needed reminder of why I love celebrating Christmas, and why, even if I cross nothing more off my list this week, Jesus loves me.

Enjoy your Tuesday!

The Christmas countdown

December 14th, 2009  |  Published in Portraits  |  Leave a Response

It’s in full swing at our house!  The fact that my eldest will turn 9 on Christmas day only adds to the excitement.

We had a busy, but good weekend.  Hope yours was good too!

Friday while my boys were in school, I went shopping with a friend.  We began this holiday tradition three (?) years ago.  We shop but we also enjoy coffee, lunch, and catching up.  It’s great spending time with her.

Saturday, I had a fabulous family shoot.

D. clan – how wonderful it was to meet you!

I’ll get some processing time in this week and post more soon.

Saturday night we had a fun dinner out with my nephew and his friend.

Sunday my kids sang in the Christmas program at church – always hilarious!  We enjoyed the snow fall, too, as well as time with 16 of our closest friends.  :-)

We’re heading into the last week of school before Christmas break – yeah!

Have a great Monday!

Family trip

December 10th, 2009  |  Published in Everyday Life, Travel  |  3 Comments

Traveling with 16 of my closest family members is always hilarious.

This time our trip was only a weekend away, but it was still lots of fun…from the boat rides to the side-by-side hotel rooms (I felt a bit sorry for nearby, non-family member occupants) to the table for 17 at a very small, very crowded Italian restaurant.

Here are a few snapshots of the weekend.

Mail

December 8th, 2009  |  Published in Everyday Life  |  2 Comments

I love receiving it, especially this time of year!

I love reading Christmas greetings from friends and family.  There are a few people who I don’t communicate with but once a year through a Christmas card exchange, so I take great pleasure in studying the photos and reading up on life as they’ve lived it.  Even with friends and family close by, I enjoy receiving their cards and hanging them in our house for the Christmas season.  My boys love the photos, too; we wait with great anticipation for the first Christmas card to arrive.

HUGE kudos (and  a hug!) to my cousin Emily whose card was the first one we received this year!  Emily had her second child in October so she’s nothing short of amazing!

Until last year, I had done fairly well in getting out a family Christmas card, usually just a photo, but a Christmas greeting all the same.  Last year I sent nothing…not even after the Christmas season.

All this to say, I’m really excited about my cards this year!  I called Raeann of Rosita Designs and asked her to create a card for me.

SPOILER – for those of you on my Christmas card list, do not click below to read more.
