A visit

January 27th, 2010  |  Published in Everyday Life, Portraits  |  2 Comments

So Carrie had casually mentioned that she and Rylan could come for a visit on one of her days off, and since my niece did not have classes on Monday, we asked if that might work for them.  It did and so we all (this includes the great-grandparents) enjoyed playing with Rylan on Monday.

Love this little boy!!

I did feel a bit like a traitor though…my two boys were at school on Monday.  There would have been mutiny had they known.  My eldest still voices his displeasure about Christmas – that it would have been so much better had Rylan been here.

I can only disclose this visit here because my boys have yet to read my blog.

:-)

Hope your Wednesday is great!

Homework

January 22nd, 2010  |  Published in Everyday Life, Photography  |  1 Comment

This time it’s mine (although sometimes my 3rd grader’s homework feels like mine).

I periodically take classes to keep my teaching credential current.  These days I usually take online classes, and I just started one this week.

A fun one.

Nature photography.  My 1st photography passion.

My first assignment was to take three nature photos with each photo focusing in a particular detail.  Oh, I do like details!

I had a little bit of time yesterday to venture into my backyard with my camera.  I stopped first to visit our dog who is not doing well…he came home yesterday from the vet’s but went back again this morning for an ultrasound.

Nancy Drew

January 19th, 2010  |  Published in Everyday Life  |  2 Comments

I love a good mystery.  I think Nancy Drew is to blame as I was a voracious N.D. reader in grade school.

In my January goals of updating website photos, taking a class, painting a bedroom, scrapbooking (Tracy Y – I still have 2 years to go before I can even enter the digital scrapbooking age – wish you were closer!), and organizing my office space, I discovered one heavy box.

I immediately cleared a shelf and displayed my find.

Tall tales

January 14th, 2010  |  Published in Everyday Life  |  2 Comments

are the subject for my eldest’s January book report.

Paul Bunyan came to mind, but my eldest wanted to read an assortment of tall tales, then choose a favorite.  Good strategy.

We checked out some library books and had fun reading one or two stories a night.  He’s pretty much decided on Pecos Bill – he likes cowboys – but our other favorite is this story.

Mario and Luigi

January 11th, 2010  |  Published in Everyday Life  |  2 Comments

My boys finally (according to them!) each received a Nintendo DS.  Currently their favorite game to play is Mario Bros.

We recently ate at a new-to-us pizza joint which happened to employ a balloon artist.  My boys asked for Mario and Luigi.  I was a bit doubtful.  I was mistaken.
