I’ll be leaving with family soon for a vacation over the holidays. Together we’ll celebrate Christmas, New Year’s, and my eldest’s 10th birthday.
While away with family, I will be unable to return emails or place orders, but will do so promptly on my return.

I will also not be blogging for 1 month (look for me to return on January 17th). As always, thank you for looking, reading, and commenting.
Merry Christmas! Happy New Year!

Found: one cassette recorder.

It was my Grandpa’s. He recorded many different things, from jazz bands to presidential debates to Guy Lombardo on New Year’s Eve.
For many years now I have had in my possession one well-labeled (with Grandpa I wouldn’t expect anything less) cassette tape. It simply reads Jennifer.
The beginning of the tape is quite garbled, but soon you can hear my little breaths, noises, and cries…then Grandpa’s voice 5 months, followed by more noises and coos.
6 months, 9 months…sometimes Grandma’s voice is heard, comforting me if I’m crying or talking to me about the record she’s playing and how many records we listened to yesterday.
2 years, over 3 years…I’m laughing a lot, singing to myself too. I hear Grandma talking in the background, either on the phone or maybe visiting with a neighbor. She’s talking about piercing hard-boiled eggs (for Easter?) and how long someone’s pierced, hard-boiled eggs lasted.
This cassette tape is precious to me because it’s a tangible reminder of Grandpa’s love. And how nice it is to hear his voice again, and Grandma’s too.

My youngest was recently invited to a birthday party. A few days before the party, he created these 2 large cards (his friend likes owls too).
I thought they were great.

in its broadest sense. No, that would be stretching it, except for the winter part.
Complete overhaul is a more accurate term.

That and so wanting to be fish-ready come chum season. Scratch that…halibut season? pink season?!
