Of course, a zoo highlight for my youngest was meeting a Eurasian eagle owl.
It is one of the largest owl species, yet it weighs very little due to its hollow bones and light-weight feathers.
We loved its orange eyes!
We found out that the Eurasian eagle owl is closely related to the Great Horned Owl (another favorite). The best owl, according to my youngest, is the snowy owl. While brother is away, I think we’ll spend a day at a local wild animal park where we can view a snowy owl.
